William Peace Family Plot Restoration

The graves and markers of the Peace family, which includes William Peace, benefactor of Peace College, are in serious disrepair at City Cemetery. This large family plot with a stone wall once topped with a cast iron fence has fallen into broken pieces. Raleigh City Cemeteries Preservation (RCCP) is actively fundraising to restore this plot which will cost over $60,000—to restore five graves and repair the stone wall and fence. The markers include graves for Joseph Peace, brother of William, Joseph’s daughter Nancy Peace and small son, and his granddaughter Ann Young, the first wife of Governor WW Holden.
