In Memoriam

Our friend and colleague Dean Ruedrich, an extraordinary and dedicated restoration preservationist, died of leukemia on February 2, 2019. RCCP’s success would not have been possible without our partnership with Dean, which began in 2006.  Dean was lead designer for our restoration work within three city-owned historic cemeteries

Dean’s fine work in City Cemetery includes restoration of the elaborate William Peace family plot, with four monuments and massive stone walls topped by a cast iron fence. Dean envisioned the finished project with little evidence of the look of the original construction. With Dean’s help, we also completed restoration of 20 headstones of enslaved persons interred in the 1.4-acre African-American section- a neglected area without any previous funding. His craftsmanship was exemplary and mindful of historic preservation standards. Dean’s enthusiasm and dedication to his work were boundless, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work with him on so many projects.
